Radev Criticizes Euro Adoption Process

Bulgaria

President Rumen Radev dismissed attacks on him for supporting the Euro Act in Bulgaria, calling them "weak and blatant manipulation." Speaking in Belogradchik during a ceremony commemorating the 175th anniversary of the uprising against Ottoman rule, Radev emphasized that the law sets no specific dates for introducing the euro, only conditions and procedures, CE Report quotes BTA

Radev criticized the government for seeking an extraordinary convergence report without adequate public awareness or risk assessments. He accused leaders Boyko Borissov and Delyan Peevski of trying to shift focus and silence the people's voice in the euro adoption debate.

The President warned that this approach mirrors the same injustices Bulgarians fought against in 1850 and urged leaders to consider the consequences of ignoring public opinion.
