Bulgaria's Elizara Yaneva reaches career-high WTA ranking

Bulgaria's top-ranked women's tennis player, Elizara Yaneva, has set a new personal best in the WTA world rankings.

The 19-year-old Yaneva is now ranked 186th with 413 points, after making her debut in the top 200 last week, CE Report quotes BTA.

The young Bulgarian reached the quarterfinals of the WTA 125 tournament in Rome, where she lost in three sets to Martina Trevisan (Italy), a 2022 French Open semifinalist.

Bulgaria's Viktoria Tomova, who lost to Barbora Krejcikova (Czechia) in the first round of the WTA 250 tournament in Athens, dropped 25 spots, falling to 232nd with 314 points.

Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus) remains at the top of the rankings with 8,550 points.
