Türkiye wins second Volleyball Nations League title
Türkiye's Women's National Volleyball Team defeated Brazil 3-1 in the final of the 2026 FIVB Volleyball Nations League (VNL) to claim the championship for the second time in the tournament's history.
Brazil took the opening set 25-23, but Türkiye responded by winning the second set by the same score to level the match. The Turkish side then edged a thrilling third set 26-24 before sealing the victory with a 25-21 win in the fourth set, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency.
Melissa Vargas led Türkiye with 33 points, earning the tournament's Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for her outstanding performances in the finals. Hande Baladın added 19 points, while Ana Cristina scored 25 for Brazil.
The victory marked Türkiye's second VNL title, following its first triumph in 2023. It was also the team's fourth VNL medal overall, adding to its record of two golds, one silver, and one bronze since the competition began in 2018.
Under head coach Daniele Santarelli, Türkiye continued its remarkable success on the international stage. Since taking charge in 2023, the Italian coach has guided the team to three major gold medals and four overall podium finishes.
The championship also served as redemption for Türkiye after its defeat to Brazil in the bronze-medal match at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
