Ukraine strikes Russian Ust-Luga port again, fire reported
A Ukrainian attack once again sparked a fire at Russia’s port of Ust-Luga on the Baltic Sea, the governor of the Leningrad region, Alexander Drozdenko, said on Telegram.
Russian forces shot down 31 drones in the region, Drozdenko added. Ust-Luga is a key port for the export of crude oil, liquefied natural gas, fertilizers, and coal, CE Report quotes MIA.
The port had already been targeted earlier this week, when tankers, warehouses, and loading facilities were damaged. Smoke clouds were reported over the area.
Ukraine struck the region overnight on Saturday, marking the third consecutive night of attacks. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia’s export capacity from the region has now been reduced to 40 percent of its normal level.
Moscow announced a ban on gasoline exports starting Wednesday, which will remain in place until July 31, in an effort to stabilize consumer prices amid global supply challenges caused by the war in Iran. This follows previous bans on gasoline and diesel exports aimed at preventing shortages resulting from Ukrainian strikes.
Ukraine also reported large-scale drone attacks. Kyiv said that most of the 442 aerial assaults were intercepted, though some hits were recorded.
Ten people were injured in the Mykolaiv region in southern Ukraine, while energy facilities were targeted in the Odesa region on the Black Sea. Power outages were reported in the area.
