Satire magazine targeted after Muhammad cartoon

Türkiye

A group of people attacked the Istanbul headquarters of Leman, the historic Turkish satirical weekly, after the magazine published a cartoon depicting Muhammad, CE Report quotes ANSA.

According to local media, some Islamists tried to force open the building’s door, located in central Istanbul, breaking windows with stones and sticks before being stopped by the police.

Before the attack, Türkiye’s Minister of Justice, Yilmaz Tunc, had announced an investigation against the magazine, accusing it of "insulting religious values," while arrest warrants were issued for the weekly’s owner and editor-in-chief.
