Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that Türkiye will begin trial electricity production from its first nuclear power plant, Akkuyu, by the end of 2025. Speaking at a natural resources summit in Istanbul, he emphasized Türkiye’s growing role in regional energy security, particularly amid Europe’s ongoing energy challenges. Erdogan noted the nearing completion of the plant’s first reactor and highlighted progress in oil production, which recently exceeded 135,000 barrels per day, a national record.
