North Macedonia, UK discuss regional security, European perspective at UNGA

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of North Macedonia Timcho Mucunski met with the UK Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Karen Pierce, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

"This afternoon in New York, on the margins of the 81st United Nations General Assembly, I held a meeting with the United Kingdom’s Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Karen Pierce.

The discussions focused on the stability, security and European perspective of the Western Balkans, current regional challenges, as well as further deepening relations between the two countries within the framework of their strategic partnership.

Particular emphasis was placed on reform processes, strengthening democratic institutions, the rule of law, NATO alliance, and our joint contribution to European and Euro-Atlantic security.

We also discussed economic cooperation, specific projects implemented through the “government-to-government” partnership, and initiatives within the Berlin Process aimed at greater regional connectivity and economic development," Mucunski wrote on the social network Facebook.
