Greece's Donoussa enters Europe’s top authentic summer destinations
Greece's Donoussa is ranked among Europe's top authentic summer destinations, according to the popular German tourism website reisereporter.de, which places it second on its list of the most exceptional "secret" destinations for this summer.
In the German website's feature article, five European destinations are presented that still preserve their authenticity and offer quality holiday experiences without the conditions of overtourism, CE Report quotes ANA-MPA.
These are Valdoviño in Spain, Donoussa in the Lesser Cyclades, Puy-l'Évêque in France, Brisighella in Italy, and the historic town of Tomar in Portugal.
According to the publication, Donoussa is considered one of the "last remaining summer paradises of the Mediterranean," keeping its Cycladic character, tranquility, and unpretentious beauty unaltered.
The island stands out for its turquoise waters, unexplored beaches, picturesque trails, and the slow, human pace of life it offers to visitors. The destination's limited size, the absence of mass tourism infrastructure, and direct contact with nature create a unique combination of relaxation and authenticity.
Special mention is made of Donoussa's impressive beaches, such as Kedros with its crystal-clear waters and golden sand, Livadi with its exotic landscape and serene atmosphere, as well as the island's small settlements, which keep their traditional Cycladic identity intact.
The article further highlights the importance of hiking routes, which allow visitors to discover the natural landscape, small chapels, rugged coastlines, and unique vistas of the Aegean, offering experiential and alternative tourism experiences.
