Albania, North Macedonia strengthen tourism cooperation at ITB Berlin
Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Sports of Albania Blendi Gonxhja met with North Macedonia’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, Zoran Ljutkov, on the margins of ITB Berlin 2026.
Ministers Gonxhja and Ljutkov engaged in discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in the tourism and culture sectors, CE Report quotes ATA.
Particular emphasis was on coordinated promotional efforts in international markets, especially in Germany and across Europe.
The discussion also centered around the potential for developing water-based tourism transportation on Lake Ohrid and improving the management of tourist flows at border points during the peak season.
The two ministers also discussed intensifying cultural cooperation through cross-border projects and activities in the Ohrid region, with a focus on the sustainable management and promotion of UNESCO heritage.
Minister Gonxhja described the meeting as a dialogue that strengthens the commitment of both parties to develop integrated regional destinations and enhance the competitiveness of the region’s tourism offerings in the international market.
Albania is being showcased at the 2026 ITB Berlin International Tourism Fair as an authentic Mediterranean destination.
During his participation at the fair, Minister Gonxhja held a series of meetings with prominent partners from the international tourism and air transport industries.
