Montenegro launches National Robotics League to boost STEM education
The Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation of Montenegro, the University of Montenegro – Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Five Group, the Science and Technology Park of Montenegro, and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre Tehnopolis have signed a Cooperation Agreement, formally establishing the National Robotics League (NRL) – an integrated educational and competition program in robotics and STEM education for children, youth, and students in Montenegro.
The NRL aims to create a structured and sustainable system that will provide continuous development of technical, creative, and innovative skills for children and young people from preschool age to higher education, CE Report informs via the Montenegrin government website.
The league combines internationally recognized programs such as FIRST LEGO League (FLL) and World Robot Olympiad (WRO) with domestic competitions including NRL Core and NRL Advanced Robotics, as well as the “Robotics for the Youngest” program, forming a unique vertical educational pathway.
With this agreement, Montenegro gains a systemic response to one of the key needs of modern education—continuous and structured development of digital and technical skills from an early age, according to all signatories of the agreement.
The initiative is aligned with Montenegro’s Reform Agenda 2024–2027, the Digital Education System Strategy, and the Smart Specialization Strategy, with its main goal being the creation of a foundation for the future integration of robotics into the formal education system of Montenegro.
