In the second-round Group J match of the FIFA World Cup, Argentina secured a place in the knockout stage with a 2-0 victory over Austria, while Lionel Messi set a new record for the number of goals scored in World Cup history.

Messi is now the all-time leading scorer in World Cup history, having scored his 18 goals in a total of 28 matches.

Argentina tops the Group J standings with a maximum six points ahead of its final group-stage match against Jordan on June 28.
