Kylian Mbappé said on Monday, during a press conference at the France national team’s training camp in Clairefontaine, that he is “100% recovered” after the left knee issues he faced in recent weeks, French media reported, CE Report quotes AGERPRES.

“As for my knee, everything is very good today,” said the captain of Les Bleus, expressing regret over the “many speculations” and false information circulating about his condition.

“That’s the life of a top athlete and a public figure. Many people gave diagnoses, I heard quite a lot of false things. You can say things without checking them and there are never any consequences… It’s tiring. But everything is fine, I’m 100% recovered. I was lucky to receive the correct diagnosis when I returned to Paris, and together we found the best plan to get back to full capacity, to be in the best shape for the end of the season with Real Madrid, as well as for the World Cup,” Mbappé added.

The French star’s comments about his fitness following the knee sprain were highly anticipated, just a few months ahead of the World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

At the beginning of March, his entourage told AFP that no surgery was planned “at this stage” and that the player would spend a few days in Paris for medical examinations.

Meanwhile, the top scorer of Real Madrid this season (38 goals in 34 matches) has already returned to the pitch, coming on in the 63rd minute of Sunday’s 3-2 win against Atlético Madrid at the Bernabéu, where he was warmly applauded by fans. He also played a few minutes last week in the 2-1 victory over Manchester City in the Champions League.

“I’ve been following a recovery program where I wanted to return gradually, but the desire to play was still there. I hope I can play during this international break and start being decisive again,” he added.

Mbappé will travel to the United States on Tuesday with the France squad for a tour that includes two friendly matches, against Brazil national football team (Thursday) and Colombia national football team (Sunday).

“It’s a friendly match, but when you play against Brazil, the greatest nation in football with five World Cups, it’s incredible. They are a team that can win the World Cup, so it’s good to test ourselves against them,” he said.

“We’re not going there on vacation, we’re going there to prepare for the World Cup,” the captain reiterated.

Asked about the identity of the future head coach, who will replace Didier Deschamps, Mbappé replied: “The president sets the pace, we’ll see who it is,” after Philippe Diallo said two days ago that he knows who the next coach will be, without naming Zinedine Zidane, widely considered the favorite for the role after the World Cup.
