Red Bull CEO on Jürgen Klopp's possible return
German coach Jürgen Klopp, whose name has been linked to a possible return to the managerial bench at FC Liverpool or a move to Real Madrid, has no release clause in his contract with Red Bull, according to Red Bull CEO Oliver Mintzlaff, quoted by Sport Bild.
Klopp, who parted ways with Liverpool in the summer of 2024 after nine successful seasons at the English club, took over on January 1, 2025 as Head of Global Football at Red Bull. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing the activities of the clubs in the Austrian company’s portfolio, CE Report quotes AGERPRES.
“Jürgen Klopp was the best signing we could have made, without paying any transfer fee. He communicates regularly with the coaches at our clubs. His conversations with young players we want to sign are crucial,” Mintzlaff said.
Asked about a possible desire from the 58-year-old Klopp to return to coaching, Mintzlaff replied:
“Jürgen Klopp feels completely at home with us and has already learned a great deal. His contract does not include a release clause, and his commitment to us is unquestionable.”
Following a recent run of unsatisfactory results at FC Liverpool, speculation has emerged about a possible return of Klopp to Anfield to replace Dutch coach Arne Slot.
As reported by CE Report, Spanish media have also recently reported on potential interest from Real Madrid, as the team from the Spanish capital has been performing below expectations under Xabi Alonso, who replaced Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti.
