At least one person has been detained, and some citizens claim to have been injured.

The situation at the protest is tense. Meanwhile, a police cordon has been set up in front of the Rectorate building, preventing citizens from approaching.

A protest is also taking place in front of the Rectorate of the University in Novi Sad in support of the University of Belgrade.

Earlier in the day, members of the Criminal Police Directorate (UKP) entered the premises of the University of Belgrade Rectorate under orders from the Belgrade Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office, as part of the investigation into the death of a 25-year-old student at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade.

Police restricted access to the Rectorate, and Rector Vladan Djokic received a search order from the High Court for his office as part of the investigation.

Following this action, students issued a call via social media in the afternoon for a protest at Student Square in Belgrade.
