AI use surges among older people in Türkiye

Türkiye

The proportion of people aged 65-74 using artificial intelligence in Türkiye has risen from 1.7% last year to 5.1% this year.

According to data compiled from the Turkish Statistical Institute’s (TÜİK) “Artificial Intelligence Statistics 2026” bulletin, the proportion of people in Türkiye who reported using generative AI — technology capable of processing large volumes of data such as text, images and audio to generate original content — increased from 19.2% in 2025 to 37.6% this year, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency.

An analysis by age group showed a particularly sharp increase in AI use among older people. Among those aged 65-74, the rate rose from 1.7% last year to 5.1% this year, meaning the proportion of older people using AI tripled in just one year.

Among men in this age group, AI use increased from 2% to 5.3%, while among women it climbed from 1.2% to 4.9%. This means the rate of AI use among older women was more than four times its 2025 level.

More than half of young people use AI

The figures also showed that AI has become increasingly integrated into the daily lives of young people.

Among those aged 16-24, the proportion using AI rose from 39.4% in 2025 to 64.9% this year.

For people aged 25-34, AI use increased from 30% to 55.7% over the same period.

Although usage declined among older age groups, significant increases were recorded across all categories. Among people aged 35-44, AI use climbed from 15.5% last year to 38.1% this year.

Among those aged 45-54, the rate rose from 7.1% to 20.6%, while among people aged 55-64 it increased from 3.1% to 10.6%.
