Bulgaria won two medals at the European Masters Indoor Championships in Torun, the Bulgarian Athletics Federation said.

More than 3,000 athletes are competing at Kujawsko Pomorska Arena Torun, which also hosted the world indoor championships for men and women in March, CE Report quotes BTA.

Boyan Lefterov returned to the track after an absence of a year and a half and won gold in the men's 70 3,000 m in 11:29.62. In the men's 35 discus, Boyan Kostov took silver with 48.80 m, behind Stephan Dekker of the Netherlands on 51.26 m, while Toni Velkov placed 10th with 36.71 m.

Vyara Georgieva-Parvanova reached the women's 45 60 m final and finished fourth in 8.38 seconds, just 0.02 seconds off the medals. She later came second in her 200 m heat in 28.13 seconds but did not continue after suffering a thigh strain.

Elsewhere, Petar Hadjiev was fourth in the men's 50 javelin with 47.13 m, Zhivko Beremski finished sixth in the men's 70 high jump with 1.35 m, a new national indoor record for his age group, and Tsvetan Tsvetkov placed 11th in the men's 55 long jump with 5.06 m after competing through injury. Petyo Hristov reached the men's 65 60 m semi-finals, where he finished sixth in 8.74 seconds, and Alexy Chilikov cleared 1.35 m in the men's 60 high jump before an old injury stopped him from going higher.

The next competition for the masters athletes will be the World Championships in Daegu from August 22 to September 3, the federation added.
