Kosovo honors Gresa Bakraqi after strong international athletics run

Kosovo’s Minister of Sport and Youth, Blerim Gashani, has hosted a reception for successful athlete Gresa Bakraqi, congratulating her on her recent international achievements.

Bakraqi continues to establish herself as one of the most prominent figures in Kosovo athletics. At the European Team Championships for Small States held in Monaco, she secured a silver medal, while at the Balkan Championships in Volos, Greece, she added two more silver medals to her record, marking another major success for Kosovo sport, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

In Monaco, she was crowned vice-champion, confirming her elite level in athletics. In Volos, she once again finished as Balkan vice-champion and set a new national record in the 5000 metres, making her performance one of the most remarkable of her career. Earlier, at the “Challenge Meeting” in Celje, Slovenia, she won gold and broke the national record in the mile race.

During the meeting, Bakraqi’s results, dedication, and consistent work were praised, with officials highlighting her role in representing Kosovo with distinction on the international stage.

This latest achievement adds to her impressive record, bringing her total to eight Balkan medals in the senior category.
