Montenegro crowns two senior Jiu-Jitsu World champions in historic day
Two members of the Montenegro Police Directorate, Nataša Jeftić and Selma Ličina, won gold medals yesterday at the 2026 World Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Abu Dhabi, achieving a historic sporting feat as Montenegro crowned two senior world champions on the same day for the first time.
Nataša Jeftić, a police officer with the Kotor Security Department, became world champion in the senior -63 kg category. She reached the gold medal with dominant victories over opponents from Türkiye and Russia before convincingly defeating another Russian competitor in the final with the maximum number of points, CE Report informs via the Montenegrin government website.
Selma Ličina, a police officer with the Cetinje Security Department, won the Adults Fighting -70 kg category to become world champion. On her way to the gold medal, she recorded convincing victories over opponents from Austria, Russia and Montenegro.
The Police Directorate said the two athletes not only won world titles but also demonstrated qualities associated with the police profession, including courage, discipline, perseverance, skill, determination and responsibility.
The Montenegro Police Directorate said it recognizes their sporting achievements and will continue supporting their efforts to remain at the top of world jiu-jitsu.
Their victories have not only produced outstanding sporting results but also helped promote the reputation of the Police Directorate and represent Montenegro and its police service internationally.
The Montenegro Police Directorate expressed its pride in Jeftić and Ličina and congratulated them on their success.
