Hollywood actor George Clooney is reportedly planning to open a luxury Italian restaurant in southern France, according to French regional newspaper Var-Matin.

The 65-year-old American actor, who recently obtained French citizenship, has reportedly identified a former pizzeria in the village of Cotignac as the location for his new venture, CE Report quotes ANSA.

The pizzeria, which closed about a year ago, is expected to be transformed into an upscale Italian restaurant. Renovation work has reportedly already begun in the village of approximately 2,000 residents, located in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region.

Clooney and his wife, Amal, have made France their primary residence after moving to their Canadel estate in Brignoles five years ago. The property is located around 20 kilometers from Cotignac.

The couple have chosen to raise their twins, Alexander and Ella, born in London in 2017, amid the landscapes of Provence.

Clooney, his wife and their children all obtained French passports in December 2025.

The restaurant project reportedly also involves Canadian businessman Graham Porter, who owns the nearby Hôtel Lou Calen.

According to Var-Matin, the hotel’s management has indicated that no official announcements regarding the project will be made for another six months.
