Ronaldo sends message of respect to Messi

Cristiano Ronaldo has commented on a special Instagram message from Lionel Messi, expressing his respect for the Argentine star’s long international career.

“Leo, so many years defending your country and a story that will last forever. All my respect for what you have achieved with Argentina. A hug,” Ronaldo wrote.

The message comes at a symbolic moment for two of the biggest figures in modern football, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

Ronaldo and Messi were rivals for more than a decade, competing for trophies, records and individual honors, while their rivalry during their years at Real Madrid and Barcelona became one of the most famous chapters in football history.

Despite their long-standing rivalry, the two have continued to show respect for each other’s achievements.

Ronaldo, Portugal’s all-time leading goalscorer, particularly praised Messi’s accomplishments with Argentina, including his triumph at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Their careers have been defined by one of football’s greatest rivalries, but also by a mutual respect that has endured beyond their battles on the pitch.
