Moldovan athlete wins bronze at World Youth Sambo Championships

Moldovan athlete Irina Florea won a bronze medal at the World Youth Sambo Championships held in Thessaloniki, Greece, securing her country’s only medal at the competition, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.

Florea claimed third place in the women’s under-54 kg category after defeating the host nation’s representative in the bronze medal match.

The young athlete, who studies at the Nicolae Testemițanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, secured a place on the podium following her successful performance in the third-place contest.

Four other Moldovan athletes finished fifth in their respective weight categories: Egor Cuijuclu in the under-71 kg division, Ana Bucatari in the under-47 kg category, Cornelia Seinic in the under-50 kg category and Iulia Coșiug in the under-65 kg division.

Moldova was represented by 14 athletes at the World Youth Sambo Championships, which brought together 713 competitors from 40 countries.
