Ronaldinho has shared an emotional message for Lionel Messi following the Argentine star’s farewell from international football.
The Brazilian legend, who played alongside Messi at Barcelona, looked back on the early years of the Argentine’s career and the joy they both experienced representing their respective countries, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
“What a pleasure and what a joy it has been to be part of your story from day one, brother! You made us smile and enjoy football so much!” Ronaldinho wrote.
He said Messi’s name is now firmly part of the history of both Argentina and world football, while also reflecting on the experience of winning the World Cup.
“Your name is in the history of your country and the whole world. Only we know the joy we felt when we fulfilled our childhood dream, representing our entire nation and becoming world champions!” he added.
Ronaldinho also expressed understanding of Messi’s decision, highlighting the importance of family.
“You gave everything for your team and your country. I understand you very well, and I know that everything involving family makes us reconsider things,” he wrote.
The Brazilian ended his message by wishing his longtime friend well in the next chapter of his life.
“Enjoy life, brother. I wish you all the best, today and always,” Ronaldinho concluded.
