Bulgaria to host U20 Women’s European Championship Division B

Bulgaria will host the FIBA U20 Women’s European Championship Division B from July 4 to 12, with the tournament taking place in the town of Samokov.

The competition will bring together 14 national teams from across Europe competing for promotion to Division A. Bulgaria’s national team will once again aim for a return to the top tier after narrowly missing promotion last summer, CE Report quotes BTA.

Matches will be played at two venues, Arena SamElyon and Triumph Hall. The group stage will take place during the first three days of competition, followed by the quarterfinals on July 9, semifinals on July 11 and the final on July 12.

Bulgaria has been drawn in Group C alongside the Netherlands, Romania, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The hosts will open their campaign against Romania on July 4, before facing the Netherlands on July 5 and Bosnia and Herzegovina on July 6.

The 14 participating teams are divided into four groups:

Group A: Ireland, Albania, Greece, Azerbaijan

Group B: Czech Republic, Ukraine, Slovakia

Group C: Netherlands, Romania, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Group D: Portugal, Montenegro, Switzerland.
