Marco Bezzecchi has publicly apologized after being disqualified and suspended from the upcoming MotoGP Czech Grand Prix in Brno for pushing and striking a track marshal.

A day after the disciplinary decision, the Aprilia rider and current MotoGP world championship leader issued a statement on Instagram expressing regret for his actions, CE Report quotes ANSA.

“I would like to apologize to the entire MotoGP community for the gesture I made toward the track marshal,” Bezzecchi wrote.

“I am sorry, especially because I know how much commitment and sacrifice marshals make to ensure our safety. These kinds of behaviors must not happen and have no justification.”

The Italian rider also extended his apologies to his team and supporters.

“I apologize to everyone, Aprilia Racing and my fans,” he added.

As a result of the incident, Bezzecchi will miss the MotoGP Czech Grand Prix at Brno, dealing a significant blow to his championship campaign despite remaining the leader of the standings.
