Romania secures three teams in European League

CS Minaur Baia Mare qualified for the group stage of the EHF European League women’s handball competition after defeating the Danish team HH Elite with a score of 33–22 (19–12) on Sunday evening at the “Lascăr Pană” Sports Hall, in the second leg of the third qualifying round.

Minaur had been defeated in the first leg in Horsens, 27–21, but erased the difference already in the first half, CE Report quotes AGERPRES.

In the 46th minute, Minaur led 26–20, exactly the margin from the first match, but the Baia Mare team delivered a very strong last quarter of an hour, ending with a 7–2 run.

For the hosts, the goals were scored by Jessica Quintino Ribeiro 7, Fie Woller 7, Maria Gomes da Costa 5, Nikoletta Papp 5, Diana Ilina 4, Amelia Lundbaeck 3, Alba Chiara Spugnini Santome 2.

The visitors’ goals were scored by Tea Thomassen Hein 6, Romee Maarschalkeweerd 6, Mathilde Neesgaard Mogensen 3, Mathilda Lundstroem 2, Matilde Marie Vestergaard 2, Frida Haug Hoel 2, Smilla Marie Bog Hede 1.

Romania will have three teams in the EHF European League group stage: Corona Brașov, CS Rapid București, and CS Minaur Baia Mare. The draw will take place on November 20 in Vienna.
