Former Barcelona goalkeeper reinvents himself as music star
José Manuel Pinto, the former goalkeeper who played for Barcelona from 2008 to 2014, is now 49 years old and has built a second career as a music star under the name Pinto Wahin.
Pinto has always combined football and music, and today he excels with a guitar in hand — achieving a truly unique distinction, CE Report quotes ATA.
“At Betis’ training center, they paid for my piano lessons. In Vigo, I founded my record label, Wahin Makinaciones. And in Barcelona, I completed my master’s degree in music production. I am the only person who has won both the Champions League (replacing Víctor Valdés in 2009 and 2011) and a Grammy Award (for my work on a flamenco album by Niña Pastori),” Pinto proudly said.
“I’ve always been inspired by rap. Dr. Dre is my role model. My music ranges from reggaeton to flamenco and rap. I collaborated with French rapper Soprano in 2010 and wrote a song for Fast and Furious 8. I wanted to combine the two worlds to create a unique jump rope–based workout method called P13Fit. The goal? To make intensive workouts equivalent to running training. You just jump rope like a kid and follow the rhythm of the music. It allows thousands of people to exercise easily. Even when I was a goalkeeper, I did it every day to compensate for my short height. It helped me improve and gain speed. People often tell me I look happy in my music videos — and I am. I’m lucky to do what I love. My happiness comes from meeting other artists and spending time with them in the studio. I love telling stories. Many people thank me because my music makes them feel good. What do I want? To share good values and positive energy.”
