
PSG Triumphs in UEFA Super Cup After Penalty Drama
The French team PSG has won the UEFA Super Cup after defeating Tottenham in Udine following a penalty shootout.
The match ended 2-2 in regular time, and penalties decided the winner, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
The Parisians secured their spot with a dominant 5-0 victory over Inter in the Champions League final, while Tottenham qualified after a narrow 1-0 win against Manchester United in the Europa League final.
This was Tottenham’s first appearance in the Super Cup and PSG’s second. PSG had previously suffered a heavy loss in the 1996 final against Juventus, with an aggregate score of 9-2 over two legs.
Tottenham scored twice in just 9 minutes — Micky van de Ven in the 39th and Cristian Romero in the 48th minute.
However, they couldn’t hold on. The Parisians came back with Kang-In Lee scoring five minutes before full time, and Gonçalo Ramos equalizing in the 4th minute of stoppage time, according to KosovaPress.
