Cesc Fabregas has added fuel to the fire of a summer rumour that is spreading rapidly in Italy: Lionel Messi at Como. With just three words – “never say never” – uttered in the press conference before the match against Al-Ahli, the Italian club’s coach has opened the door of dreams for Lazio fans.

Various sources have reinforced the speculation: Messi's wife, Antonela, was seen at the "Sinigaglia" stadium, while his family spent a few days of vacation in the lake area. Although the idea seems almost impossible, Como has the financial power to make such a transfer happen. The club has spent 104 million euros in this transfer window and Messi would be the pinnacle of a sporting revolution.

At 38, Messi is still shining for Inter Miami, where he has scored 18 goals in as many games this season. He will be a free agent in December and Inter Miami are trying to keep him with a contract extension, while interest from Saudi Arabia remains strong.
