Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal faces backlash over controversial birthday party

Barcelona footballer Lamine Yamal has faced harsh criticism and an official complaint from the Association of People with Achondroplasia and Other Skeletal Dysplasia with Dwarfism (ADEE) after organizing a lavish party for his 18th birthday, where he allegedly hired people with dwarfism for entertainment, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

According to ADEE, such an action constitutes a violation of the General Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which prohibits the use of persons with disabilities in performances or activities that place them in positions of ridicule, mockery or contempt.

"It is unacceptable that in the 21st century people with dwarfism are used as entertainment at private parties. When a public figure like Lamine Yamal promotes these practices, the consequences are even more harmful for society," said Carolina Muñiz Puente, president of ADEE.

The party took place at Masia Alcazar del Garraf and was attended by around 250 guests, including many well-known figures from the world of music and sports, such as Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc and singers Bad Gyal, Duki, Nicki Nicole, Morad and others. Most of the Barcelona squad was also present, although they did not stay long due to medical commitments the next day.

Lamine Yamal, who has just entered adulthood, is seen as the leading candidate to inherit the number 10 shirt at Barca, following Ansu Fati's departure to Monaco - a shirt loaded with symbolism that was once worn by Lionel Messi.
