Kosovo’s National Team Debuts at European Esports Championship

36 teams from 24 European countries will participate in the European Esports Championship that started today in Pristina, whose matches will take place at the "1 Tetori" Sports Hall. Kosovo will not only be the host of this major competition, but will also be represented with its national team, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

At the official opening ceremony, the acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, who addressed the attendees in English, emphasized that although this is known as a new sport in the world, Kosovo has a long history in this activity since young Kosovars many years ago began their engagement in electronic games in internet cafes, thus taking the first steps towards professional growth in this sport.

Kurti also called for the Kosovo representative team in this competition to be wholeheartedly supported by all fans and practitioners of electronic games - Esports, from today until July 13.

Altin Preniqi, President of the Kosovo Esports Federation, said that the organization of this European is a historic moment for Kosovo because this sport brings great energy, and above all, billions of online viewers from all over the world, thus becoming a rare opportunity to promote the image of the Republic of Kosovo throughout the globe.

This championship is organized by the Kosovo Esports Federation with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. The first match will take place today between the Republic of Kosovo and the Czech Republic./KosovaPress.
