Dimitrov Retires at Roland Garros

Sports

Bulgaria’s top-ranked player Grigor Dimitrov was forced to retire from his first-round match at Roland Garros on Tuesday due to a thigh injury. Dimitrov, who won the first two sets against American Ethan Quinn (6-2 6-3), withdrew after losing four straight games in the third set (2-6).

This marks the fourth consecutive Grand Slam where Dimitrov has retired injured. Despite this, he holds the record for 57 consecutive Grand Slam main draw appearances, dating back to the 2011 Australian Open, CE Report quotes BTA

Dimitrov reached the quarterfinals in Paris last year, but his early exit this time will cost him ranking points and likely push him out of the top 20.
