Romania’s men’s sabre team clinched bronze at the World Fencing Championships in Tbilisi on Monday, defeating Japan 45-41 in a dramatic comeback for third place, CE Report quotes AGERPRES

The Romanian squad — Radu Nitu, Vlad Covaliu, Razvan Ursachi, and George Dragomir — advanced past Venezuela and Russia, then edged out France in the quarterfinals before falling to Hungary in the semis.

In the bronze medal match, Romania overturned a 30-22 deficit, with Ursachi leading the charge with a decisive 13-4 bout.

This marks Romania’s first medal at the Tbilisi championships.
