A winning debut, as expected, for The Mandalorian and Grogu, the new chapter in the Star Wars saga directed by Jon Favreau.

The film earned 1.321 million euros over the weekend, with an average of 2,541 euros across 520 theaters, reaching a total of nearly 1.685 million euros in five days, CE Report quotes ANSA.

Holding second place was Michael, the biopic about Michael Jackson, which earned almost 1.114 million euros over the weekend (-53%), with an average of 2,278 euros in 489 cinemas.

The film’s total box office after five weeks stands at 23.142 million euros.

In third place was The Devil Wears Prada 2, which added another 872,000 euros (-69%) with an average of 1,601 euros in 545 cinemas. Since April 29, the film directed by David Frankel has grossed nearly 30.709 million euros.

Fourth place went to the horror movie Obsession, up 16%, earning another 704,000 euros with the highest average in the top ten — 2,774 euros across 254 screens — for a total of 1.618 million euros in 15 days.

Among the Cannes films, Amarga Navidad by Pedro Almodóvar debuted in fifth place with nearly 378,000 euros and an average of 1,260 euros in 300 cinemas.

Sixth place went to another horror film, Passenger, which debuted with 203,000 euros and an average of 983 euros across 207 screens.

In seventh place was Le città di pianura, which earned nearly 102,000 euros (-56%) with an average of 640 euros in 159 theaters. The film by Francesco Sossai, winner at the David di Donatello awards, has grossed nearly 2.297 million euros since September 25.

Eighth place went to Pecore sotto copertura, which added 90,000 euros for a total of 819,000 euros in 20 days.

Ninth was Guy Ritchie’s In the Grey, which earned 55,000 euros over the weekend and nearly 369,000 euros overall in two weeks.

Closing the top ten was the family film Hopper il segreto della marmotta, which earned another 41,000 euros during the weekend and 186,000 euros in 15 days.

The weekend box office reached 5.28 million euros and 670,737 admissions, marking a 31% drop compared to last weekend and a 49% decline compared to the same period last year, when Lilo & Stitch was released.
