Bosnia's Mostar becomes hub for historic vehicles from across Europe
Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, hosted a major international oldtimer gathering last weekend, the 20th edition organized by the Oldtimer Club Mostar.
The event has brought together more than 200 classic cars that arrived in the city on the Neretva River from across Europe, CE Report quotes FENA.
“This year participants and guests are coming from ten countries. All presidents of regional oldtimer associations have also arrived, as well as representatives of the world organization. This is one of the largest gatherings in Europe,” said Oldtimer Club Mostar president Zdravko Vidović.
More than 200 oldtimers and over a thousand visitors from Bosnia and Herzegovina, the region, and Europe have arrived in Mostar this weekend.
“The event started on Friday with the arrival of the first guests from across Europe, followed by social gatherings and introductions. Today we had the official opening, and we are heading to Čitluk for the promotion of the newly founded Oldtimer Club Brotnjo. After that, we return to Mostar for the awards ceremony. Tomorrow, participants will also be able to visit tourist attractions across Herzegovina,” Vidović said.
Residents of Mostar and Herzegovina had the opportunity to see numerous classic cars, including vehicles from the 1940s. Some of the cars are worth several hundred thousand euros.
One of the goals of the Oldtimer Club Mostar is to promote positive stories, tourism, and Herzegovina, and the club is in many ways unique in Europe.
“This story has gone far and has become a driver of tourism development. Our goal is to promote positive things, tourism, wine, and Herzegovina. The Oldtimer Club Mostar is the only club in Europe that has its own museum, and we currently have an offer to be included in the list of global world museums. We are unique and followed by more than 100 countries, and we are a member of the international FIVA organization, which brings together national federations and clubs of historic vehicles,” Vidović said.
The Oldtimer Club Mostar was founded in 2010 and has since attracted great interest in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the region, and worldwide.
The club is the only one in Europe that includes a museum of oldtimers as well as a museum of antiques and historical objects. Special attention is drawn by its oldest exhibit – a 1929 Ford Model T.
