The Louvre Museum in Paris announced on Thursday that it will close two hours earlier than usual from Friday through Monday as France prepares for another heatwave, Xinhua reported.

In a post on X, the museum said it will exceptionally close at 4:00 p.m. local time instead of its usual 6:00 p.m. closing time from July 10 to July 13 due to extreme heat, CE Report quotes AGERPRES.

The Musée National Eugène Delacroix, which is affiliated with the Louvre, will operate on the same reduced schedule.

In a bulletin issued on Thursday, Météo-France said that after the exceptional heatwave at the end of June, high temperatures are once again expected to affect much of the country.

According to the national weather agency, nine departments in mainland France will be placed under the highest-level red heat alert on Friday, while 76 departments will remain under an orange alert. Temperatures in Paris are forecast to reach 35°C on Friday.

During the previous heatwave in late June, the Louvre also shortened its opening hours, closing at 4:00 p.m. instead of 6:00 p.m. from June 24 to June 27 because of the extreme heat.
