In a post on social media, Ersoy highlighted the museum's latest international achievement, saying the Tunceli Museum will represent Türkiye in the competition for the title of "Europe's Best Museum for Learning Opportunities," an award presented by the European Museum Academy (EMA), CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency.
According to Ersoy, the museum, which was created by restoring a former military barracks into one of Türkiye's leading city and archaeology museums, was selected based on criteria including education, learning opportunities, and visitor experience.
The minister noted that the museum successfully passed the first stage of evaluation by the academy's jury, earning the title of "Museum Candidate for the 2026 DASA Award."
He also recalled that the museum was a finalist for the European Museum of the Year Award (EMYA) in 2022 and the Luigi Micheletti Award, presented by the European Museum Academy, in 2023.
The winner of the 2026 DASA Award will be announced during the European Museum Academy's annual meeting, scheduled to take place from September 24 to 26 in Alicante.
Ersoy congratulated everyone involved in the achievement, praising the ministry's museum professionals and those contributing to Türkiye's vision for museum development.
The DASA Award, presented by the European Museum Academy, is regarded as one of Europe's leading museum honors, recognizing excellence in educational activities, learning opportunities, and the overall visitor experience.
