World Chocolate Day celebrated around the Globe
Every year on July 7, people around the world celebrate World Chocolate Day, a day dedicated to one of the most beloved and widely enjoyed sweet treats.
With a history dating back around 2,500 years to what is now southern Mexico, chocolate traces its origins to ancient civilizations that used cacao beans to prepare a bitter beverage with ceremonial and nutritional significance, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
World Chocolate Day has been celebrated since 2009 and is associated with the anniversary of the first shipment of cacao beans from South America arriving in Spain in 1550. This milestone is considered the beginning of chocolate's spread across Europe, from where it eventually became one of the world's most popular food products.
Today, chocolate is produced in a wide variety of forms and flavors, including dark, milk, and white chocolate. It is used not only as a sweet treat but also in desserts, beverages, savory dishes, and many other culinary creations.
Experts note that moderate consumption of dark chocolate, which contains a high percentage of cocoa, may provide health benefits thanks to its antioxidants, which help protect the body and support heart health.
World Chocolate Day offers an opportunity to celebrate the history, culture, and distinctive flavor of chocolate, which continues to symbolize enjoyment and special moments for millions of people around the world.
