The CSKA Sofia football club won the Bulgarian Cup after defeating Lokomotiv Plovdiv on a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw. The match was played to an audience of more than 30,000 people at Vasil Levski National Stadium in the capital.

After the draw in regular time, neither side managed to score during the two 15-minute periods of extra time, forcing the contest to be decided by penalties, where CSKA converted four out of five kicks against three successful shots for Lokomotiv, CE Report quotes BTA.

This is the 22nd Bulgarian Cup for CSKA. The trophy has secured them a place in the UEFA Europa League, starting this autumn. National league champions Levski Sofia and CSKA Sofia are the two confirmed Bulgarian representatives among the country's four entrants in UEFA competitions.

Lokomotiv, who are based in the southern Bulgarian city of Plovdiv, have won the Bulgarian Cup twice: in 2019 and 2020.
