Harry Styles concerts force Ajax to leave Johan Cruyff Arena

A highly unusual and complicated situation has affected Dutch giants Ajax, who have been forced to leave their usual home in Amsterdam for the final matches of the season.

The reason is pop star Harry Styles’ music tour, as he has booked the “Johan Cruyff Arena” for a series of concerts, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

Following a goalless draw against SC Heerenveen, Ajax qualified for the Eredivisie play-offs, where they will fight for a place in European competition, specifically the UEFA Conference League.

The semi-final match against FC Groningen, scheduled for Thursday, May 21, should be played as a home fixture, but two concerts from Styles’ “Together, Together” tour are set to take place exactly one night before the potential matches.

Stadium representatives and scheduling organizers admitted that the calendar situation has made it impossible to host football at the venue during those dates:

“The tour schedule and early bookings have made it absolutely impossible to adapt the stadium for football at these dates.”

As a result, Ajax have been forced to move their matches to FC Volendam’s “Kras Stadion”, located about half an hour from Amsterdam.

As if that were not enough, Volendam themselves are involved in another crucial battle at the same time — fighting for survival in the league against Willem II.

This has created a real scheduling overload in the small seaside town stadium, where within days the fate of two different clubs will be decided: one fighting to stay in the top flight, and Ajax fighting desperately for European qualification.
