The English club Sunderland AFC held its annual end-of-season awards ceremony on Wednesday evening at the “Beacon of Light”, bringing together players, staff, partners, and fans to celebrate achievements from the 2025–26 season across all levels of the club.

In a successful season following their return to the Premier League, captain Granit Xhaka was named Player of the Season, recognized for his leadership and major contribution in midfield, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

One of the most memorable moments of the season came in the derby against Newcastle United, where Brian Brobbey scored the decisive goal that secured Sunderland’s victory. This moment was voted by fans as the “Moment of the Season”.

Young talent Chris Rigg received the Goal of the Season award for his spectacular strike against Aston Villa, while goalkeeper Robin Roefs was named Young Player of the Season for his consistent performances in the Premier League.

Dan Ballard received the Community Contribution Award for his off-field involvement.

In the women’s team, Emily Scarr was named Player of the Season, while Katie Kitching won Goal of the Season. Young player honors also went to rising talent Katy Kitching for her performances.

In the club’s academy, young players Finn Geragusian, Finlay Holcroft, and Charlie Scorer were also recognized for their achievements in their respective age groups.

The ceremony at the “Beacon of Light” served as a festive conclusion to an important season, celebrating on-field success, community work, and the development of young talent.
