
EU-US Trade Deal Averts Tariff War
Greece’s Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis hailed the new EU-US trade agreement as a positive development that ends months of uncertainty and prevents a potential trade war. Pierrakakis emphasized that the agreement also boosts Europe’s energy security and aligns with Greece’s stance in favor of free trade under stable rules. While welcoming the deal, he noted that Greece prefers lower or zero tariffs on exports, as the current terms include about 15% tariffs on European goods heading to the US.
