Slovenia’s mixed ski jumping team wins silver at World Championships

Featuring world champion Nika Prevc, Slovenia's mixed ski jumping team took silver on the large hill at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Trondheim, Norway, conceding to the home team. Bronze went to Austria, CE Report quotes The Slovenia Times.

Slovenia, the reigning Olympic mixed team champions, delivered an excellent performance despite fielding a completely revamped squad, featuring Prevc, her brother Domen Prevc, Ema Klinec and Anže Lanišek.

The sole setback came from Klinec, who acknowledged her current form limited her to doing "the best I could". She managed jumps of 104.5 and 103 metres.

Having taken gold in Trondheim in the individual normal hill competition, Nika Prevc was the best woman jumper among the 15 competing in the mixed event, at 133.5 and 136 metres.

Lanišek also raised expectations to the maximum ahead of the individual large hill event with a record 141-metre jump for the day and the best individual performance.

Nika Prevc, who has dominated women's ski jumping this year and will be aiming for her second gold in the women's event on the large hill, was relieved after the competition: "Things were not easy for me mentally today. The fact that we joined forces today and were so strong, the strongest thus far this year, is really a big deal."

Slovenia now have one bronze and one silver from the seven mixed team events held at World Championships thus far. They clinched bronze at home in Planica in 2023.
