Elliot Anderson joins Manchester City

Manchester City have officially completed the signing of Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest in a deal worth £116 million ($154 million).

The club confirmed that the 23-year-old England midfielder has signed a five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium, with an option to extend for an additional year, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

The agreement was reached earlier this month but was finalized this week after Anderson returned from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he featured in all eight matches for England as they finished third.

Anderson said he was "over the moon" to join "one of the biggest clubs in the world."

"It's a club built to win trophies and compete at the very top. They're winners, they're relentless, and that's exactly the kind of team I want to be part of. Over the last 10 to 12 years, they've dominated."

The midfielder also took a swipe at Manchester City's rivals.

"It's one of the biggest derbies in the world, and for as long as I've known Manchester, City have been the kings of Manchester. I can't wait to be part of that."

His first Manchester derby against Manchester United is scheduled for September 13 at Old Trafford.

Anderson came through the Newcastle United academy, making 55 appearances before joining Nottingham Forest for £35 million two years ago, where he went on to play 92 matches.

He will join the squad led by new head coach Enzo Maresca next month.

Sporting director Hugo Viana praised the signing, saying: "Elliot is one of the outstanding young midfield talents in world football. He has all the qualities to become a complete midfielder."

The transfer comes just days after his England teammate Morgan Rogers joined Chelsea from Aston Villa for £117 million, setting a new British transfer record.
