Djokovic, Sabalenka to team up in US Open mixed doubles
Novak Djokovic and Aryna Sabalenka will team up in the mixed doubles event at the US Open, tournament organizers have confirmed ahead of the competition.
They will be one of 16 pairs competing in the event, CE Report quotes MIA.
Their partnership is expected to attract significant attention from tennis fans.
The tournament will also introduce new rules, with organizers aiming to make matches shorter and more dynamic.
In the opening rounds, matches will be played as the best of two sets, with each set won by the first player or team to reach four games. If the score reaches 3-3, a tiebreak will decide the set. At 40-40 (deuce), there will be no advantage—the next point will determine the game winner. If the match is tied at one set all, it will be decided by a 10-point super tiebreak.
In the final, sets will be played to six games, with a tiebreak at 6-6. If a deciding set is required, it will again be played as a 10-point super tiebreak.
The mixed doubles matches will take place on August 25 and 26.
