Görkem Gedik wins Turkish freediving title with 81-meter dive

Turkish national athlete Görkem Gedik claimed the national title in the Free Immersion (FIM) category at the Turkish Freediving Open Water Seniors and Masters Individual Championship, held in the Kaş district of Antalya.

Gedik secured first place after successfully completing an 81-meter dive on a single breath in 2 minutes and 45 seconds.

Speaking after his victory, Gedik said he had been preparing for the championship for a long time and was delighted with the result.

He thanked everyone who supported him throughout the competition.

"I am very happy to have become the Turkish champion. During my 2-minute and 45-second dive to 81 meters, I felt the positive energy and support messages sent to me. I sincerely thank everyone who stood by me and contributed to this achievement," he said.

Gedik added that his next goal is the World Championship, where he hopes to represent Türkiye in the best possible way while competing for the national team.
