Romanian tennis player Ana Bogdan reached the second round of the Wimbledon Grand Slam on Monday after a victory over a higher-ranked opponent, Russian Liudmila Samsonova, following two sets decided in a tie-break, 7-6 (7/1), 7-6 (7/4). CE Report quoting Agerpres

Ana Bogdan (30 years old, WTA's 57th) had never faced Liudmila Samsonova (24 years old, WTA's 15th), No. 15 seed, whom the Romanian player defeated after two hours and 24 minutes of play. Bogdan has never made it past the second round at Wimbledon, having reached that stage in 2017 and 2022.
