Bolojan Meets Social Partners on Reforms

Romania

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan met with employers' associations and trade union representatives on Friday at the Victoria Palace as part of the National Tripartite Council for Social Dialogue. The meeting focused on the draft law on fiscal-budgetary measures and its anticipated economic and social effects, CE Report quotes AGERPRES

Bolojan emphasized the need for immediate structural reforms to cut public spending and boost revenues. "Restoring credibility with the European Commission, investors, and financiers is essential," he said, noting that the first package of reforms will be presented at the ECOFIN meeting on July 8. A second package is expected by the end of July, aiming to meet NRRP targets and unlock EU funds under the fourth payment request.

Employers stressed the importance of tax stability, combating tax evasion, and efficient public spending, as well as reducing bureaucracy and supporting Romanian tourism.

Trade unions voiced concerns about the impact of spending cuts, particularly on education. The government invited both unions and employers to participate in working groups drafting the next reform packages.

Bolojan concluded by calling for a "collaboration based on respect to make the best decisions for Romania."
