Senate Approves Proposal for Romanian Press Museum

Romania

The Senate's Legal Committee has approved a legislative proposal that would allow the AGERPRES National News Agency to establish, manage, and fund a Press Museum. This initiative, championed by PNL Senator Cristian Niculescu-Tagarlas, aims to preserve, archive, and promote Romania's journalistic heritage, documenting the evolution of the Romanian press from its origins to the digital age, CE Report quotes Agerpres

The museum will feature newspapers, magazines, technical equipment, and archival documents, and could function as an autonomous structure within AGERPRES or as a public institution. It will also collaborate with cultural institutions, organise educational programs, and host events on the media’s impact on society and democracy.

Niculescu-Tagarlas highlighted the importance of this project in promoting Romania’s history and democratic values.
