Albania works to reduce delays at Croatia-Montenegro border

The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania warns that summer tourist traffic is causing long delays at the Croatia-Montenegro border, CE Report informs.

"The significant increase in mobility across the region and the growing number of travelers heading to Albania by road during the tourist season result, during peak periods, in long waiting times at the border crossings between Croatia and Montenegro. This is a recurring phenomenon that, due to the very high volume of traffic, occurs almost every summer, particularly on weekends and during the busiest travel days.

The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and Albania's diplomatic missions are in continuous communication with the relevant authorities and institutions to ensure that, in accordance with the legislation and procedures in force in each country, border crossings are as fast and efficient as possible. Efforts are being made to increase operational capacity and minimize waiting times at border checkpoints to the greatest extent possible.

During the summer season alone, around 300,000 Albanian citizens travel through this road corridor. Such a high volume of traffic places considerable pressure on border infrastructure and services during certain periods. Nevertheless, this does not diminish our commitment to coordinating with the relevant authorities, identifying practical solutions, and facilitating the movement of our citizens as much as possible, until the Schengen Area is fully extended to this part of the region," the statement reads.
