Irish Prime Minister arrives in Kyiv for official visit

Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin has arrived in the Ukrainian capital on a visit.

This was reported by the Irish Independent, CE Report quotes Ukrinform.

President Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister Martin will discuss Russia’s war against Ukraine and the European Union’s support during Ireland’s presidency of the Council of the EU, including negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU.

The issue of Ireland’s support for Ukraine will be part of this meeting.

The Irish Prime Minister will also meet with Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi.

In addition, Martin will meet with Verkhovna Rada Chairman Ruslan Stefanchuk at the Ukrainian parliament.

It is noted that the Irish prime minister will visit areas of Kyiv that were affected by recent Russian strikes, meet with representatives of international and charitable organizations assisting victims of Russian attacks, and those receiving financial support from Ireland.

Among other things, Martin will address members of the Irish community in Kyiv.

In May of this year, Zelensky invited Martin to the Ukrainian capital.

As reported by Ukrinform, Ireland assumed the presidency of the Council of the European Union on July 1, a term that will last until December 31, 2026.
